V FESTIVAL- 10 ACTS TO SEE
Once upon a time there was a festival that made it’s mark on the UK, it brought acts throughout the pop world to Chelmsford, Essex and little more but with time comes mixed genres, a lot less labelling and an attitude that shouts “so what if I love a bit of Jason Derulo!?” So not only do we not care that we actually love a bit of POP, we’ve got the 10 acts you need to see at this years V Festival, taking place on 19th- 20th August.
19 year old singer and songwriter RAYE is on track to own 2017, so it’s no wonder she’s gracing the stages of V Festival. You’ll 100% know her from Jax Jones ‘You Don’t Know Me,’ but you might find you knew her before the ever addictive House tracked dropped when she featured on Jonas Blue track ‘By Your Side.’ Not only is her voice and style distinctive but she’s uber talented, having helped penned both tracks, as well as working closely with Pop princess Charlie XCX.
Pink is actual Pop royalty but remember when she ruled the waves of R‘n’B? Proving she can lend her vocals to anything, Pink has a discography to be reckoned with but having taken time out to raise kids, we’re glad to know that she’s back with her legendary performance that include dangling from wires, zorbing across audiences and pole dancing.
She’s feisty, full of energy and that voice of hers remains are powerful as ever.
He’s absolutely killing it now and we were all YASSSSS when he laid it down on Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You.’ Proving he can add his own to any style of music, Linkin Park recently announced a collaboration with the ‘shut up’ rapper. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phVQZrb2AdA Linkin Park ft Pusha T & Stormzy– ‘Good Goodbye.’
Keeping it low key at the moment, hopefully working on their third album after the release of We The Generation, we can’t wait to welcome these Hackney foursome. Loved for their infectious tracks like ‘Waiting All Night,’ ‘Bloodstream’ and ‘Never Let You Go,’ the lads combine hyped tracks with some of the most out of breath performance we have ever seen. They also brought us the incredible Anne- Marie, for which we will forever love them.
- Sean Paul
We love the fact that Sean Paul will collaborate with anyone, we’re not even gonna knock him for it. Like we said in the beginning, music is not about sticking to one genre and we can’t get enough of him, so you keep collaborating, so long as we can hear classics like ‘Gimme The Light,’ ‘Temperature’ and ‘Get Busy.’ We can’t lie that we rated him working with Dua Lipa, Sia and Clean Bandit.
- Jay Z
Even though his missus looks close enough to pop, we’re looking forward to welcoming the US rapper to V Festival. It’s not exactly been a hard knock life for the entrepreneur and we understand that impending arrivals might be draining but they’ll be 99 problems from the audience if we don’t get to hear classics like ‘Big Pimpin,’ ‘New York,’ and ‘N***as In Paris.’
- Krept & Konan
We’re not happy with these two, the MOBO Award winners have been missing in action but we can’t wait for them to drop anthem ‘Freak of The Week,’ and cause mosh pits with ‘Don’t Waste My Time.
We’re hoping to hear some new material from the South London lads.
- Craig David
Craig David is another man of the moment, it almost makes you think of how we ever managed life without him in it. Proving that time does make the heart grow fonder, it’s like he’s put Garage back on the map… although you know it never left, he just makes ‘Rewind’ sound so much harder in 2017.
- Jason Derulo
It would be kind of rude if we didn’t include the ‘Swalla’ singer in our top 10 reasons because like Sean Paul, he simply does not stop. Not to mention all that dancing, it’s enough to wear us out just looking at him. We’re sure the R’n’B and Pop star will take us back in time and remind us of hits including ‘Riding Solo,’ ‘Talk Dirty,’ ‘Wiggle’ and ‘Get Ugly.’ Maybe have a sit down after he performs yeah?!
- Anne- Marie
Now don’t hold us to this year’s weather but for the last two years, the sun has been on it’s best behaviour and we should think so as V Festival takes place at the peak of summer. Expect the ladies in short shorts and fellas topless… let’s face it, both sexes get to admire the scenery, whilst letting their hair down but if you’re not looking for a summer of love, join Anne- Marie for a rendition of ‘ciao adios.’
