Earlier this week nominations for the Brits were revealed with bated breath and after Jorja Smith was announced as the winner of the Critic’s Choice at the end of the year, it’s been another successful landslide of Urban nominations.

J Hus leads the girls and boys with 3 nominations including ‘British Album of the Year,’ ‘British Breakthrough’ and ‘British Single of the Year- Did You See.’ J Hus will have fierce competition from Stormzy when Gang Signs & Prayer and Common Sense will bout it out for Album of the Year.

Facing further competition J Hus will go head to head in the biggest category for British Single of the Year which will probably be his toughest competition with the biggest hits and number ones last year- as voted by the public.

We’re chuffed for Loyle Carner who has bagged himself a nomination for British Male Solo Artist and are sure that Stormzy has some words of wisdom as he too is up for the gong. Some twitter users have been quick to ask who Loyle Carner is but we’ve been following his movement ever since we heard his wise lyrics at Street Fest in 2015…

Probably the most impressive round for Urban music is British Breakthrough which besides one pop princess is overthrown by some of our faves like Dave, J Hus, Loyle Carner and Sampha.

(as voted by the public) J Hus- Did You See

(Street fest 2015) Loyle Carner- The Isle of Arran

(Carner and sampha) Dave- No Words
