STORMZY LANDS ON ‘BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER’ FOR GRENFELL VICTMS
Last week music mogul Simon Cowell announced a charity single was going to be released, in aid of the victims of the Grenfell Tower Fire.
Of course knowing charity singles that have been released in the past, there was going to be a lot of guessing as to which artists would be gracing the single. So after much talk, it was mentioned that Stormzy and Skepta were both said to be on the track amongst other artists.
Yesterday the Simon and Garfunkel covered single ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water‘ was released with a music video and as promised Stormzy came through with a bunch of other artists including Wstrn, Emelie Sande, Labrinth, Jessie J, Leona Lewis, Jorja Smith, Rita Ora and many more. Unfortunately, Skepta was not present on the song but at least Stormzy came through representing the Grime scene and showing support for the victims.
Stormzy opens the song with an emotional rap about the victims and display so much empathy. With lyrics like”Cuh that could’ve been my mum’s house Or that could’ve been my nephew” you can hear the pain and sadness in his voice.
It’s been a tough time for the Grenfell Tower victims over the past few weeks. Hopefully the money from the song and all other donations can help them start to rebuild their life. Visit the Artists for Grenfell website where you can buy the single or make a donation towards the aid here.
